📍Kolkata, India

Hi! This is me, @ananyasaraf.design‘s personal art and design exhibit agenda for the month; shared here because art and organised grids (two things sitting conveniently high on my list of interests) now felt worthy of an audience.

I’m drawn to contemporary art and design, especially the ones that makes me physically move, look twice. The kind that makes my brain tingle.

This list focuses on Kolkata since I’m based here, with occasional exhibits from other cities I plan to visit (and as my chronically online self digs deeper.) Do reach out if I miss anything :)

Long Term Exhibitions

Dates (start–end) Exhibit Name Venue / Gallery / Museum Artist(s) / Curator(s) Ananya’s Reflections
13 February – 26 April 2026 Khadi, a Canvas TRI Art and Culture Curated by Lavina Baldota & Gaurang Shah This exhibition unfolded for me (pun intended) over multiple visits. The first time I appreciated the craft. But with every visit came a bunch of questions and revelations about the process, the intricacy, and the layers of history in something I initially thought was just a stunning saree.
14 February – 15 April 2026 Empowerment. Art and Feminism Goethe Institut Kolkata Multiple Artists
Curated by Andreas Beitin, Katharina Koch und Uta Ruhkamp
15 March – 14 June 2026 The cage broke, and I found the horizon Experimenter Outpost
(at Alipore Museum) Rathin Barman I would not have thought that the choice of an erstwhile prison as a venue for an exhibition about home and liberation could add so much depth to it. As for the work, the varied interpretations of home in food or architecture really made me think about how different categories of society differently remember and understand home.
18th March – 16 May 2026 All that you leave behind Art Exposure Multiple Artists
Curated by Gayatri Sinha
20th March – May 9th Chance Remains of Another Time Emami Art
(Kolkata Centre of Creativity) Suman Dey I really enjoy textural work for the love of the visual and the tactility. But this show did not just check that box, it transported me through different experiences of my own urban life in Kolkata.
20th March – May 9th Nothing Twice Emami Art
(Kolkata Centre of Creativity) Multiple Artists
Curated by Ushmita Sahu I usually find it difficult to understand the underlying thread between different works in a group show. This show for me was no different, but it did come together slowly and quite intestingly. Moving back and forth the entire show, I think Riti Sengupta’s photography was the work that tied it together for me, underlining my previously noted keywords of temporality, everyday existence and the female experience.
27 March – 6 June 2026 Where We Come From Experimenter Hindustan Road Emily Jacir
2 April – 6 June 2026 We Need to Talk in Whispers Experimenter Ballygunge Place Soumya Sankar Bose Without much context about the show, I walked into large scale and high contrast photographs — beautiful looking and at the same time disturbingly confusing. It made me want to know more but also made me feel like I should not. But as I saw and read more, the discomfort somewhat subsided and I became surprisingly curious in understanding the life (and the end of it) of strangers.
24th April – May 9th On the Limits of Superstition Seagull Books Kiron Khosla
